Captain Henry E. (Pete) Collins

Henry E. (Pete) Collins enlisted in the Army Air Corp in August, 1942 and was

put on Active Duty September 16, 1942. After training in Combat Intelligence,

he was assigned to the 12th Air force in Tunis on October 31, 1943. From this

1943, and served with that unit until the end of hostilities in Europe.

After serving with the 82nd Fighter Group, he requested a transfer to the far-

east to continue service against the Japanese. The war with Japan ended

while he was in route.

Discharged from the Air Corp. in August, 1945, he entered the active reserve,

and was recalled to duty in 1950 for the Korean conflict.

Major Henry E. Collins was killed in the crash of an R-B36 in the North Atlantic

Ocean in August, 1953.
